World's longest car jump attempt ends in crash

French Guerlain Chicherit has avoided serious injury after a practice run of his world record Mini jump attempt came crashing down.

Chicherit launched his modified Mini Countryman over a specially prepared jump in Tignes in the southern Rhone-Alpes region of France.
Shocked spectators filmed the crash, their footage showing the Countryman rolling several times before coming to a rest on its side.

The wreck looks scary, but fortunately he emerged from the MINI under his own power and has since been cleared by a precautionary MRI.
He's fine, apart from a few minor injuries.

Though the jump record attempt failed, he has already logged the world's first "unassisted" car backflip in another modified Mini rally car.
